At Zoras LUD we are true to the purpose of our profession. We work with existing landscapes by maintaining and enhancing their natural beauty and processes, encouraging meaningful interactions with people and creating safe and accessible spaces for them. The landscape proposal for this 16.5 acres (6.7 hectares) staff housing project for Jindal Steel at Pataranga, Odisha, India sensitively retains the existing natural features and processes therefore reducing the need for maintenance. A 1.1 acres seasonal pond, complete with existing wetland soils and planting and thickets of native shrub and tree vegetation along its edges is retained and storm water run-off from buildings is redirected here. The landscape, once implemented will provide residents the opportunity to immersing themselves in the natural/ naturalistic landscape thereby, forming a deep connection with nature and with themselves, learning to care for themselves and the natural environment, improving the quality of life.
