The ‘Park Development’ is located at the centre of the high-density commercial hub of Hightec City, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The site is a linear, rocky site sandwiched between existing and upcoming high-rise commercial and some residential developments. It is a 9-acre site 700m long and 50m wide to be developed into an urban green space. Towards the East, it abuts Durgam Cheruvu Lake and can be connected to this. The roads that have been carved out of the rock along the site have left the site elevated and somewhat isolated with standing rock facades of up to 12m along two sides. As experts in the field of urbanism, landscape and ecology Zoras understands that this green space is urgently needed to allow people to reconnect with the local natural environment and cultural context.
Considering the intact high-quality natural environment of the KBR National Park as well as its vicinity to the site and proximity to the Durgam Cheruvu Lake, Zoras are taking reference to the biological diversity found at KBR National Park to establish a functioning ecosystem at the ‘connect Park’. This should be done by involving biodiversity specialists too. The space programming within the site would encourage a number of different user groups to come and use the space.
On the one hand the users will include residents who live in close proximity or further away from the site and may be using the site in the morning hours as well as evening hours during a weekday and on weekends. On the other hand the floating population that may be working in close proximity to the site may be using the site during lunch hours on weekdays. Whilst the residential community would comprise all age groups and require a number of different amenities, the floating population however would be more homogenous.
The Community Centre would mark the main entry to the site. It will have an informal feel with Hyderabadi street food appeal together with local artisans and workshops, so the crowd can relax, hang out and appreciate the space. In addition there will be Convenience Stores for the use of the public. 200 No. of parking will be located here in addition to roadside parking along the 30m and 45m wide roads.
