Joint family living is an age old concept of kinship that ties together the members of a large family in one home or nearby homes and continues in India until today. Living together in a joint family brings many benefits to each member, from providing emotional and financial support. It often enables the family to take up tasks and projects larger than a nuclear family could.
One such opportunity presents itself with the development of a family weekend and holiday home in Janpath, Ludhiana, India. After some deliberation, the family has come forward and asked Landscape Architects Zoras LUD and Architects Arquite to transform the 3.5 acres site into a natural haven for the family.
Zoras has taken up the assignment and are engaging in regular workshops with the members of the family initially to refine the brief and develop the landscape design language initially and in the next step develop the sustainability parameters.
